Saag Paneer

Ingredients

  • 500g spinach
  • 300g paneer, cut in cubes
  • ½ onion, finely chopped
  • 3 garlic cloves, finely chopped
  • A thumb size piece of finely chopped ginger
  • 1 green chilli, finely chopped
  • A handful of coriander, finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil

The Spices

  • ½ tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp garam masala
  • 2 tsp coriander powder
  • 1 tsp cumin powder
  • ½ tsp chilli powder (or Paprika)
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds

Method

Using a saucepan on medium heat, add the chopped onions and cook for 4-5 minutes until soft and translucent, add the ginger and garlic next and cook for 2 more minutes. Add the spices starting with the whole cumin seeds, let it cook for an extra couple of minutes until the spices start releasing their aromas.
